Article Title

A noteworthy argument against same - sex marriage

Abstract

In 2004, Loyola invited Judge Darrell White to debate this topic and then featured his argument in its journal of civil discourse. White’s stance is that same – sex marriage should not be legalized as doing so would undermine the socio-cultural institutions of family and marriage because legalizing same sex marriage would open the door for other undesirable types of unions; disprove the ideal of marriage as a tool for procreation; increase divorce; cause a rising number in homosexuals; and create too much tolerance in America. Many advocates of same – sex marriage would be inclined to assert that White’s argument is flawed because of his biased sources; however, his argument is noteworthy because he effectively appeals to ethos, particularly through the demonstration of intelligence and good character.
