Abstract
In the pieces A Raisin In The Sun, The Bell Jar as well as The Heidi Chronicles there was a great deal of feminism in each of them. A Raisin In The Sun was written by Lorraine Hansberry and had three hard working female characters named Beneatha, Ruth and Mama that carried the play. Each of these women were powerful in their own ways. On the other hand, The Bell Jar was written by Sylvia Plath and had a strong female character in her novel. This female went by the name of Esther Greenwood and she was fearless, and was not afraid to break the box society trapped her in. The Heidi Chronicles, which was written by Wendy Wasserstein also had a strong female lead character named Heidi Holland. Heidi was not one to follow the rules and what was expected of her by her peers during this time, she broke the boundaries that were put on women.
