Abstract
This year our chapter provided more activities for the campus community and the surrounding towns. Included in our roster of events are the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Basket Competition, the Environmental Undergraduate Research Symposium and the creation of a giant periodic table during Chemistry Week. Chapter members visited local high schools and Cub Scout troops giving interactive chemical demonstrations. Our chapter provided information on the US presidential candidates' environmental science policies during the University's Presidential Candidates Day. A tour was organized of the Newport Biodiesel plant in Newport RI and was used to initiate our Green Fuel Chemistry Competition. Affiliates formed teams that competed to generate the most energy rich biodiesel determined by bomb calorimetry. As part of this year's Distinguished Lecture Series our chapter of ACS was proud to present renowned chemist Dr. Jotham Coe, Department of Neuroscience, Pfizer Global R&D.
