Abstract
This research study was conducted to assess the impact of the World Wide Web as an educational instrument, promotional tool, and entertainment venue on college students. The results reflect a significant difference within gender, class, and major. Most notably, the results indicate that the acquisition of information (be it educational or promotional) represents the most important aspect of student web activity. Knowledge of this result should help quell some of the negative concerns of educators, provide additional fuel for promotional strategists, and also should serve to highlight the potential benefits to be derived by both parties from their pursuit of joint ventures. © 2005, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
