Dr Rosalie Franks teaches Literature and Philosophy and Critical Writing at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. From 1994-1999 she interviewed 92 Holocaust survivors for the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation, founded by Steven Spielberg. Her three to seven- hour conversations with survivors represent more than 550 hours of original testimonies with Jews, ages 60 to 97, who once lived in countries all over Eastern and Western Europe. Out of 25,000 interviews conducted in English by the Foundation, two of Dr. Franks’ ground-breaking conversations with Joseph Singer, a child survivor of the failed Saint Louis refugee voyage and Kurt Thomas, a Sobibor escapee, can now be viewed fully worldwide on the Internet.
