Abstract
One key element for employers is a new hire's ability to communicate. It has become an important component of accreditation as well. This paper discusses how oral communication has been integrated within the computer science curriculum at Roger Williams University. It focuses on a method for building confidence in speaking. Using an impromptu approach in a non-graded exercise, students have fun while developing good speaking habits. The exercise is a game that continuously receives favorable comments from students indicating it has helped them improve their communication skills. The skill improvement extends beyond one course as students have commented it has helped in other courses as well. This exercise has been in use for three years. © 2007 IEEE.
